Smother's Day: Pacers shut down Knicks in first half of Game 4

Indiana Pacers players thanked their moms for raising them by stifling the New York Knicks in the first half of Game 4.

Indiana delivered the mother of all defensive performances to hold the Knicks to 14 first-quarter points on their way to a 69-41 halftime lead. Five Pacers scored in double figures in the first half, led by Tyrese Halliburton’s 13 points and three three-pointers.

Haliburton announced that the Pacers would be ready after Game 3, acknowledging that Game 4 was big even for a playoff game because “our moms are going to be there.”

The Knicks might be hoping their moms’ brunch plans ran late as they shot over 20 percentage points worse from the field than the Pacers. They should hope none of their moms asked them for a three-pointer for Mother’s Day, either, since the Knicks only made two in the first half – sorry Mrs. Brunson and Mrs. Hart!

The Pacers led 69-41 at the half and the Knicks’ moms aren’t mad, just disappointed.
